The Leather Design Studio and Incubation Centre (LDSIC) of Malawi is established by the Government of Malawi through the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism established the in 2018 under the Malawi Enterprise Productivity Enhancement (MEPE) Project with financial support from the European Union (EU) through the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) under the Regional Integration Support Mechanism (RISM) programme with the technical support of ALLPI.
The LDSIC has a piece of state-of-the-art equipment for designing and production of leather products such as industrial safety boots, office wear shoes, school shoes, ladies handbags and belts. The Centre is linked to the Regional Leather Design Studio (RDS) flagship project of ALLPI that was launched in 2016, Mombasa, Kenya.
The LDSIC is envisioned to be a leading and innovative centre of excellence in building capacity, production and marketing of leather and leather products in Malawi.
